I use Med2k map activator. (See MED2K EDITOR.). You may also use the editor function of MED2k as sort of an error checker- it simply will not load a non-functioning map. NOTE: Newest version of Dominator are incompatible with all other editors.

Be sure to close any incompatible/interferrence programs, especially Dune 2000.

Choose correct path to custom map. In order for any custom map to function, it must reside in map folder located in Westwood\Dune2000\Data\maps.

The .map filename and the map name must match your opponent(s) when you play on this map over the internet ( LAN games., etc...).

'The Ordos have killed the Emperor and his Bene Jesuit companion on Arrakis. While House Atriedes has lost their lord, Duke Leto, his death has been avenged by his son, Paul. The death of the Harkonnan Baron has toppled the leadership of House Harkonnan as well.
Paul, or more rightfully, Usul, has deigned not to take his fathers lordship of House Atriedes at this time, and remains defacto ruler of Dune.
Usul now has deigned an area of Dune to be open to the three closest houses of the Landsdry, House Atriedes, House Harkonnan, and House Ordos. This spice rich area is called Death Chasms by the locals, perhaps due to the fact where you find spice, you will find worms. Maybe soon it will certainly live up to its name for other reasons as well.
It is known that the Freman are sympathic to House Atriedes; they will not interfer in large force, but will continue to scout, infiltrate, etc, as usual, for whoever can claim the local Freman's help.
Due to loss of each House's main leadership, each faction that manages to arrive on Dune will be hostile whether they are from the same House or not, for "who controls the spice, controls the universe!".'
